An absolute bargain
"TFT is the way forward" is what people say, and while an 18" or 19" monitor would be nice, realistically that isnt going to happen. Because TFTs operate at fixed resolution, I wasnt interested in a 15" one, because I didnt want to be locked into a resolution of 1024x768 pixels, so it had to be 16" or 17" which operate at 1280x1024. Another important feature was the inclusion of a digital DVI connection, which ensures a much cleaner and higher quality picture than a standard analogue connector. The other important criterion was that the response time was low, to avoid so-called "ghosting" when fast-moving images are played. The LG 1710B excels in all these areas. Add to this its incredible price, made even more so by the fact that the 20 quid DVI cable is included (unlike many other monitors). It comes with software to set up the colour balance, and it looks great. And it has a USB hub. No speakers, but anyone who listens to monitor speakers needs their ears checked. If anybody is looking for an LCD monitor and does not have at least 500 quid to spend, then this is the only possible choice.

WOW!! This TFT, Sooooo Good.
Well, i have been thinking of upgrading to a TFT from my CRT for some months now, but i do a lot of fast online gaming like Medal of Honour and my wife does a lot of Nursing assignments, so needs sharp text. So wondered after listening to people opinions if it was such a good idea, damn, no need to worry. This monitor is superb, the DVI connection makes a big difference over my old analogue CRT, The colours are wonderful, vivid and bright, and the text is pin-sharp, the 16ms response time surprised me, this is very fast, and i had no blurring or ghosting when tyring the games.
Changing from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 on my desktop took a little getting used to, but looks very nice once you are used to it, no glare from the monitor either, a bonus, another worry i had was only hitting the recommended 60Hz on the refresh rate, would it be enough i wondered. Well, the picture is solid, and totally flicker free, one of the benefits of moving up to digital i guess.
After a day with this you would not want anything else, for anyone reading this who is thinking of getting a new TFT or a new monitor at all, then look no further, it was the reviews here that swung it for me, and its not the no1 selling TFT at Amazon for nothing.
Superb, and using my Radeon 9800 Pro with it is a bonus as the monitor is optomized for Radeons.
I just cant believe colours could look so good. Damn.

Tentaively Swapped to TFT
Well i have to say, i have been thinking over getting a TFT for a few months now, i play a lot of online games, Medal of Honour and the like so needed some fast response times, and the wife doing a lot of Nursing assignments required good text. Some people put me off, but after reading the reviews here i took the plunge, and boy, am i glad, DVI picture is pin sharp, wonderfully bright and colours looking like they should, cant believe anyone would consider using a CRT after spending a day with this. Upped my desktop resolution from 1024x768 to 1280x1024, a little getting used to, but when you do, its very nice, no glare, and i was very surprised at the stability at 60Hz, had a worry about this, but i guess thats the wonder of digital input.
The response time on the games is outstandingly fast 16ms, wow, highly recommended, no blurs or ghosting, and digital pictures look as good as ever. Anyone who is curious about a TFT and thinking of getting a new monitor, trust me, and the others here, this is a wonderfull investment.
I just cant get over how much better the colours look, damn.
